Walker Back in BSB for 2009

December 2, 2008

Chris Walker has agreed a deal with Rob McElnea’s Yamaha team that will see him return to British Superbikes for 2009, 12 years since taking the championship by storm for the same team.

The veteran will be part of a two-man team going into the 2009 season, with the second spot in the team yet to be confirmed by McElnea.

Walker, speaking to Motorcycle News, said:

“I always planned to come back.

“One of the biggest things in my career has been not winning a BSB championship and I feel like the timing to make a return is perfect.

“The truth is there is no greater feeling than racing in front of the British crowds. It’s going to be a great feeling to be able to see the British fans every week again.

“I still feel like I’ve got a good few years left in me yet and everything is still in the right places, more by luck than judgement with some of the crashes I’ve had.

“And the British Championship always eluded me so I couldn’t turn down the chance to ride for a team that I know will fully back me all the way.”
