Troy Bayliss Takes Superpole In Final Career Race
November 5, 2008
Troy Bayliss took his 8th Superpole win of the season last weekend ahead of his final career race the next day. It’s the 26th pole position Bayliss has secured in his career, won on a day of extreme wet conditions in Portugal.
The Portimao circuit was hit by torrential rain right at the start of the superpole session and only a few riders were able to take advantage of the relatively milder early track conditions, including Bayliss.
The weather played a big part in shaping the starting grid for last Sunday’s races - joining Bayliss on the front row were two surprises - wildcard entry and BSB rider Cal Crutchlow and debutant Jonathan Rea second and theird respectively - with Max Biaggi completing the lineup.
