Szoke Wins Canadian Superbike Championship

September 3, 2008

The curtain came down on the 2008 Parts Canada Superbike Championship last weekend at Shannonville Motorsport Park, and it was Jordan Szoke who was once again celebrating a great season having secured his fifth national championship title.

Szoke finished a comfortable sixth place on Sunday which was enough to make sure he couldn’t be caught, but it was Brett McCormick who topped the field to give himself his first superbike win of his career.

McCormick shot into the lead going into the first corner and pulled away from the main pack, bringing Kevin Lacombe and Chris Peris with him. Lacombe then made his move and led for the majority of the race, but it was McCormick who came back to lead with two laps remaining and hold on for the win.

The final Parts Canada Superbike standings see Szoke finish in first place with 317 points, McBain finishes the year in second with 277 points, and Lacombe completes the podium with 250 points.
