Sykes Makes Promising Debut In World Superbikes
August 14, 2008
Tom Sykes completed a dream couple of weeks in Superbike racing with a strong wildcard debut in World Superbikes at Brands Hatch this month.
Not long after completing an emphatic double in the BSB weekend at Oulton Park, Tom Sykes was lining up alongside the likes of Valentino Rossi to attempt to gain some global prominence in the bike racing world. And he didn’t disappoint.
The first race saw Sykes competing for a podium position before a technical problem halted his chances of a dream finish. The Rizla Suzuki rider then followed this up with a highly respectable 6th place finish in the second race.
Considering he was running a slower-spec engine than many of his competitors, Sykes’ performance is sure to get the racing world noticing the young British more and may see him soon rise through the racing classes.
