Sun Visors Increasingly Important In Winter Riding
December 18, 2008
There may not be much superbike racing going on at this time of year, and for good reason too. Weather conditions in the winter months is an obvious reason to have a break at this time of year. On the days where the weather does pick up and the sun is shining, it can be tempting to go out on your motorbike. However one thing which can be easily forgotten is just how big a factor the sunshine can play in riding safely.
In winter you’ll find that the sun shines at a much lower level, at times of the day even being at eye level (admittedly this can be a factor at any time of year, but more so in the winter). Riding with no protection for your eyes can easily lead to the usual eye problems, even reaching the point where you need laser vision correction in later years. Not only does the sunshine endanger your eyes, but the glare of the sun can block all visibility and potentially cause an accident.
One way to protect yourself is simply not forgetting your sunglasses - you find many superbike riders will wear sunglasses inside their helmets or have protective visors on the helmets themselves.
