Spies Still Trying To Settle On Yamaha

January 27, 2009

AMA Champion Ben Spies says he has yet to feel completely comfortable on his new Yamaha machine after moving from a Suzuki, as he prepares for his first season in the World Superbikes Championship.

Spies had a very successful career in the AMA Superbikes championship, taking the last 3 titles and earning himself numerous guest rides in MotoGP. The 24-year old had hoped to gain a permanent place in MotoGP but Suzuki could not get a deal done this year.

Not one for waiting, Spies decided to make the move onto the world stage with Yamaha in World Superbikes.

“I’ve got up to speed, but I’m not comfortable yet, though I’ve only been on the bike for four or five days, so we’re looking fine”

Spies’ form over the last few years, plus his natural ability on two wheels, put him among the favourites for this year’s title.
