Shane Byrne Helmet Raises £820 For Charity

An auction on eBay for a specially designed Shane Byrne replica helmet has raised £820 for the Airwaves Ducati rider’s chosen charity Macmillan Cancer Support.

The one off design was part of a competition that saw Byrne wear the design at Oulton Park earlier in the 2008 season. The winning design was produced by 10-year old Claudia Painter, who got the chance to personally present the helmet to ‘Shakey’.

Following the charity sale of the helmet, Byrne said:

“I suffered a big loss in my life because of cancer.

“I hope that the money raised from the auction of this helmet can go some way, however big or small, towards helping others similarly affected whilst also highlighting the great work carried out by the people at Macmillan Cancer Support.”
