Portimao Test Results

January 31, 2009

Official testing for the new 2009 World Superbikes season started with a bang last week as WSB rookie and current British Superbikes Champion Shane Byrne finished testing at the Portimao circuit having broken the track record, with fellow rookie and current AMA Superbikes Champion Ben Spies recording a lap time just 0.2 seconds off Byrne’s pace.

Joined by the regular World Superbikes heavyweights such as Noriyuki Haga and Carlos Checa, these new additions to the rider’s roster are sgnalling the 2009 season will be full of talent and great riding.

Coupled with some of the negative whispers coming out of motorbike racing’s elite class, MotoGP, 2009 may well prove to be the year of the World Superbikes.
