Troy Corser took the provisional pole today as he and many of the other riders took their first laps around the new Autodromo Internacional in Portimao, Portugal. The Australian recorded a time of 1m 55.791 round the 4.5km track in wet conditions, almost 1.5 seconds ahead of his nearest rivals.

British wildcard entry Leon Haslam finished with the second quickest time on his HM Plant Honda machine. Third went to Ducati Xerox rider Michel Fabrizio, who tested on the new track last week, while Ruben Xaus completes the front row on his Sterilgarda Go Eleven Ducati.
