New Zealand In Race For Championship Round

March 10, 2008

It is reported that New Zealand are chasing the possibility of hosting a round of the World Superbikes Championship for 3 years from 2010.

Motorcycling New Zealand president Sandra Perry says Championship organisers have accepted a bid, as long as certain conditions are met.

“We have some huge ground work to do about sourcing investment to run the event,” she told RadioSport.

The event would be held at the new Hampton Downs circuit in Waikato.

“Some minor track modifications need to be looked at,” she said.

New Zealand last hosted a World Championship race in 1992.
