New Group Formed To Coordinate Canadian Motorcycle Racing
April 2, 2008
The Motorcyclists Confederation of Canada (MCC) last week announced the formation of a new “Competition Working Group” whose purpose will be to manage and ultimately expand motorbike racing in Canada.
The group’s founding members include the MCC, Parts Canada Superbike Championship, World Enduro Canada (WEC) and the Canadian Motosport Racing Club (CMRC). It is hoped this coordination between the major racing groups in Canada will help to put Canadian motorcycle racing on the world map as a strong force in competitive racing.
“This is one of the most significant developments on the Canadian motorcycling scene in 25-years” says MCC President Peter Jacobs. “For years the Canadian Competition scene has been fragmented, now through this MCC working group, riders, promotional partners and industry will come together to offer events that meet the highest standards of operation and sanctioning and present fair and expanding opportunities for our riders to compete with the best.”
“When it comes to talent, Canada’s motorcycle racers are second to none,” added Colin Fraser of PMP, organiser of the Parts Canada Superbike Championships series. “By joining forces, we are creating a win-win opportunity for the individuals who choose competitive racing in Canada and at an international level.”
The MCC is a non-profit organisation set up in 2004, caring for motorcycling interest across Canada. It is made up from national, provincial and territorial organisations, clubs, and riders.
