MV Agusta Enter Team Into BSB

January 25, 2009

While there may not be any Ducatis in the 2009 British Superbikes season, there will still be a presence from an Italian motorbike manufacturer in the shape of MV Agusta, whose MV Agusta F4 1000 machine will be used by the STP Motorsport team.

STP Motorsport will field a two-man team of Chris Burns and Victor Cox, while Bristol based turning company JHS Racing will be in charge of the development and preparation of the MV Agusta bikes.

Team boss Jon Strike said:

“The race bikes have already been subjected to detailed inspection by JHS and they have identified a number of areas that will improve performance and reliability.

“The target now is to get everything in place in order that we can start testing as soon as possible.

“Having a partner on board like JHS will free up cash that would have been spent on engine development and testing.

“Hopefully, this will be of benefit in our on-going search for a title partner for the team next season as the financial demands are reduced.

“Even in the current economic climate, I am convinced that the benefits of being involved with a brand as famous as MV Agusta and the marketing opportunities it presents, make sound economic sense.”
