Michael Laverty On His Step Up To Superbikes

Last year’s British Supersport Champion Michael Laverty has this year decided to make the step up to the more powerful British Superbikes Championship and is reportedly happy with his progress in pre-season so far. Motorcycle news source MCN spoke to the rider while testing at the Almeria Circuit last week.
“The first day of testing is all about ironing out the little teething problems with the new bike.
“I’m feeling happy so far, the bike feels pretty good even with a base setting.”
The Northern Irish rider has had to get used to the step up to the Suzuki GSX-R1000 from the 600 version pretty quickly, but early signs are good. One of the changes Laverty has had to get used to is the change in riding style the superbike requires.
“I’m just getting my head around picking the bike up again and then accelerating on the flat part of the tyre rather than using the corner speed like on a supersport bike.”
