Japanese Superbikes - Okayama Results

October 24, 2008

Earlier this month saw the Japanese Superbikes Championship being wrapped up with the final two rounds of racing taking place at the Okayama International Circuit, and the outright rider’s championship winner being decided.

After two solid performance finishing 3rd and 6th over the weekend, YSP & PRESTO Racing’s Katsuyuki Nakasuga was the man to claim the 2008 crown having performed the most consistently over the year.

At a wet and rainy circuit and watched by over 14,000 spectators, it was veteran Shin’ichi Itoh that took the first race win of the day, finishing comfortably ahead of nearest rival Kohsuke Akiyoshi. Conditions worsened further still for the second race with 6 riders not finishing, but Suzuki rider Daisaku Sakai made the best of the wet conditions and won the second race ahead of Akira Yanagawa and Nobuyuki Ohsaki respectively.
