Indonesia Round Of Championship Cancelled

March 7, 2008

The 2008 World Superbike Championship has been cut to 14 rounds after it was confirmed the proposed race at Sentul in Indonesia has been dropped.

There were concerns when the provisional calendar was announced whether or not the Indonesian round would take place due to fears over safety at the track. But FIM safety inspector Claude Danis visited the Sentul track and declared it safe for racing.

No official reason has been given for the cancellation, however it is believed it is down to a lack of funding for the event caused by the withdrawel of support from the Indonesian government.

  • April 6 - Valencia, Spain
