First Official WSB 2009 Test Last Weekend

The official pre-season test for the 2009 World Superbikes Championship took place last weekend at Portimao ahead of the first race of the season in Australia on March 1.
The three day test in Portugal gave the teams a final chance at fine tuning adjustments, and gave the riders their first direct clash of the season.
Despite the economic downturn, 2009 sees the largest field of riders in both World Superbikes and World Supersport (32 riders and 30 riders respectively), and a record 7 manufacturers competing in World Superbikes. This makes 2009 the biggest year of World Superbikes in its 22-year history.
