Ducati Boss Against Idea Of Unifying WSB And MotoGP

January 23, 2009

Ducati Corse CEO Claudio Domenicali has stated he feels both the World Superbike and MotoGP race classes can continue to be run as separate championships despite the current economic crisis which has seen many manufacturers pull out of various racing divisions.

The state of the world economy has led many to speculate that a merger between the two championships could be on the cards soon so as to counter the financial crisis. Plus the fact that WSB and MotoGP tend to go after the same sponsors, there is added strain on manufacturers compared to that of say Formula One.

However Domenicali doesn’t feel such drastic action needs taking right now, although he didn’t rule out the possiblility of a merger if the financial situation worsens.
