Bayliss Takes Both Wins In Assen

Troy Bayliss continued his amazing run of form today, taking convincing wins in both races at Assen TT Circuit in the Netherlands in the fourth round of the World Superbikes Championship today.
In the first race it was Suzuki Alstare rider Kagayama who took the early lead, but a mistake by the Japanese let in Bayliss who powered through to lead all the way to the end of the race, eventually winning by two seconds. [read more]

Bayliss Claims 20th Career Superpole

Troy Bayliss was on top form in qualifying yet again today at Assen, notching up his second superpole of the year and 20th of his career. The Ducati Xerox rider set a winning time of 1′38.428, just a fraction slower than the lap record he himself had just set in free practice.
Second place went to Noriyuki Haga, the Yamaha rider posting a time just one tenth of a second off the pace of Bayliss. Third went to Spaniard Ruben Xaus - the Ducati rider had been poor in early qualifying sessions but made major progress in reach the front row for tomorrow’s racing. [read more]

British Superbikes Championship on Channel 4

The first terrestrial coverage of the 2008 British Superbikes season begins with the opening races from Thruxton to be shown on Wednesday night.
The 50-minute highlights show will be presented by James Cracknell (unusual choice!) and goes out at 1.10am. There will also be an exclusive competition held during the show where lucky viewers will get the chance to win tickets to the next round of the British Superbikes championship at Oulton Park, Cheshire on 3-5 May. Crutchlow and Byrne Take Opening Victories of BSB 2008

Shane Byrne and Cal Crutchlow ended a thrilling weekend of British Superbikes racing with wins in the first and second races respectively of the opening round of the 2008 Championship at Thruxton. With both riders also recording a second place finish, they go into the next round of racing as joint leaders of the series. [read more]

British Superbikes - Thruxton Qualifying

Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne was on good form today to take pole position for tomorrow’s racing in the first round of the British superbikes 2008 season tomorrow.
The Airwaves Ducati rider posted an excellent lap time in difficult conditions to take pole ahead of fellow Brit Leon Haslam who had been the fastest rider through most of qualifying. [read more]

AMA Superbikes 2008 TV Schedule Confirmed

The 2008 schedule of racing in the AMA Superbike championship was confirmed last week, with extensive sirtime throughout the season.
All television coverage will be through ‘Speed TV’ and includes both live and delayed coverage of every superbikes round, from Barber Motorsports this weekend to Laguna Seca at the end of the season in September. Speed TV will also be covering Supersport and Superstock racing from each round. [read more]

Neukirchner Hopeful Of Starting At Assen

German Max Neukirchner is recovering well from a broken collarbone and is hoping to be ready to race at the Dutch round of the World Superbikes Championship in just under two weeks.
The Alstare Suzuki rider suffered his injury after being hit by Carlos Checa on the final lap of the first race in Valencia, causing hime to miss the second race and become a doubt for the Assen round. [read more]

A brand new World Superbikes video game will be launched this summer on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PSP, PlayStation 2 and PC it was announced recently.
Developed by European publisher Black Bean Games, it was also announced this month that an official website is now live, where keen gamers can read up on more details about the forthcoming racing game including a behind-the-scenes look at how the developers have created what looks to be a quality game. Kiyonari Disappointed Not To Get On Podium

Ryuichi Kiyonari had a mixed weekend in Valencia, not finishing in the first race but then putting in an impressive performance to finish fourth in the second race at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit.
The HANNspree Ten Kate Honda rider has gone from strength to strength since moving from British Superbikes (he was 2007 champion) to the World Superbikes championship, although the Japanese rider is still not totally satisfied with his performance. [read more]

Team Go Big Racing Drop Out Of Championship

All-Canadian team Go Big Racing last week announced that they will no longer be competing in the Parts Canada Superbikes Championship due to problems in securing adequate sponsorship deals for the forthcoming 2008 season.
The team had a highly successful 2007 and looked on course to repeat - if not better - that feat this year, but these surprising financial difficulties have meant team operators Paul Glenn and Ross Millson announced the split effective immediately. [read more]
