Entry List For Daytona 2008 Released

The pre-entry list for the first round of the 2008 AMA Superbike Championship were released last week. The race takes place in less than two weeks on March 8 at the world famous Daytona International Speedway. There are an impressive 31 riders provisionally entered for the Superbike race. [read more]

Kagayama To Miss Australia Through Injury

It has been confirmed that Japanese rider Yukio Kagayama will miss the second round of the World Superbikes Championship through an injury he picked up in Qatar.
The Alstare Suzuki rider suffered a broken collarbone when he crashed on the first lap of the second race at the Losail International Circuit after making contact with Carlos Checa. He will certainly miss the racing at Phillip Island this weekend, and probably the FGSport tests scheduled for March 13-14 in Valencia. [read more]

Bayliss Leads After Championship Opener in Qatar

Troy Bayliss leaves Qatar today with a 2-point lead in the World Superbikes Rider’s Championship after a solid performance in both of this afternoon’s races at the Losail International Circuit. The Australian finished the 2 races 1st and 4th respectively, with the second race giving Spaniard Fonsi Nieto his first win in 4 years.
On a predictably hot day in Losail it was Bayliss who took the early initiative, winning a race to the line with Max Biaggi to record the first race win of the season in a time of 36′11.468. Troy Corser, who posted the fastest time in qualifying, finished 3rd almost two seconds behind the winner. [read more]

Corser Takes First Pole Of 2008

Troy Corser powered to the 41st pole position of his career this afternoon in the first round of the 2008 World Championship Superbikes season. Holding off the challenge of Ruben Xaus and Max Biaggi (second and third respectively), the Yamaha Motor Italia rider posted a fastest time of 1′58.053 beating the Qatar course’s lap record by 4 tenths of a second set by Corser last year.
Corser left it late to take the pole position - Xaus and Biaggi, both on Ducati 1098 RS08 machines, were set for a solid 1-2 placing before the 36-year old Australian put in his super lap. The three of them will be joined on the front row of the grid by Alstare Suzuki’s young German rider Max Neukirchner. [read more]
