Hill scores a win and a second to take lead

Suzuki rider, Tommy Hill, took the overall lead after scoring a win and a second-place at Cadwell Park.
He said it was good to be back winning again, this being his first victory in 15 races in a barren run stretching all the way back to April. He says that his team has regrouped after a series of ups and downs.
Hill says a few things had been tried at Brands Hatch and that they hadn’t worked. At Cadwell, everything the team tried seemed to come off.
The showdown title finale sees a different scoring system put in place. The top six riders will go through and each will have 500 points plus podium bonuses.

Brookes takes Cadwell Park race

Josh Brookes of HM Plant Honda won the second MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship race at Cadwell Park, pushing Tommy Hill of Worx Crescent Suzuki into second place.
Brookes led from the opening lap but was overtaken by Hill and fell to third as Kiyanari also took advantage. The two Honda riders waited behind Hill for some time before making a move. Brookes made a move in the ninth lap and passed Kiyonari and then went first three laps later.
Afterwards, he said:
“I didn’t get the perfect start and I was behind Kiyo and Tommy, but our pace was much faster than race one and I put a pass on both of them through the Hall Bends section and I knew Tommy would try and have a go back but I thought we had the pace to hold him off and then the red flag came out. It feels good to win again as that was always the goal and now we focus on the Showdown.”

BSB Round Two

Last month saw the second round of the 2010 MCE British Superbikes season take place at Thruxton over the weekend April 16-18.
It was Josh Brookes who came out of the weekend with the best results, finishing 2nd in race one and moving up a gear to finish 1st in race two. However it is Tommy Hill who still leads the championship, having had the better of the early races and in fact matching Brookes’ results. Hill managed first in race one and second in race two.
The next round of racing will be at Oulton Park on the upcoming May bank holiday weekend.

2010 BSB Off To A Good Start

The 2010 MCE Insurance British Superbikes season made its start this month with 2 great races at Brands Hatch on 2nd-5th April, and it was Tommy Hill who took the early advantage with a pair of solid displays, finishing 1st in race one and 2nd in race two.
The Worx Crescent Suzuki rider accumulated 45 points over the weekend, 4 ahead of close rival James Ellison and 16 points ahead of 3rd placed rookie Alistair Seeley. However the championship is obviously in its early stages with many races and plenty of points still up for grabs.
The riders will be returning to Brands Hatch later in the season where they will compete on the longer GP circuit, but next for the riders will be Thruxton this weekend, which will hopefully give us a stronger idea which riders and teams are seriously competing for this year’s championship.

Leon Camier Makes It A Double At Thruxton

Leon Camier took his second win at Thruxton this afternoon to make it a perfect weekend for the Airwaves Yamaha rider. It was equally enjoyable for his team as they recorded another one-two finish with James Ellison crossing the line in second. HM Plant Honda rider Josh Brookes took his first British Superbikes poidum, finishing in third position.
On a hot day that saw spectators not far from the drinks vending machines, the ViSK British Superbikes didn’t disappoint for entertainment with plenty of action throughout the field. It was Ellison who once again got the best start, leading on the first lap over teammate Leon Camier, Simon Andrews and Stuart Easton. However, Camier was ahead before the end of lap one, taking advantage of a mistake from Ellison. The Airwaves Yamaha rider held on for the win, leaving the rest of the pack to battle for the remaining podium places.
And it was fellow Airwaves Yamaha rider Ellison who took the second spot ahead of a fierce battle between Josh Brookes and Stuart Easton, which the rookie Brookes eventually won.
The win sees Camier with a healthy lead in the British Superbikes Championship, holding a 38-point advantage over teammte Ellison.

Camier Wins Race One

Airwaves Yamaha made it a successful one-two in the first race at Thruxton for the 4th round of the ViSK British Superbikes season with Leon Camier taking the spoils ahead of teammate James Ellison. Hydrex Honda rider Stuart Easton finished off the podium in third.
It was Ellison who had the best start, leading after the first corner with Easton tooked in behind followed closely by Camier in third. In an exciting race that surely had fans jumping off their garden and office chairs, Leon Camier made his move on second placed Easton on the third lap of the race, before battling with and eventually beating fellow Airwaves Yamaha rider Ellison for the lead on the following lap. Camier went on to hold on for the win.
Camier said: “That race was really hard work and the front tyre was moving around a bit because of the heat. I was lacking a bit of grip but I got into a rhythm and just got my head down although pace not as consistent as I would have wanted. The race pace was slower than what we had been doing here in qualifying and practice but it worked out, I have another win and I feel really good about it.”

Camier Takes Pole At Thruxton

Leon Camier made it a hattrick of pole positions for the season at Thruxton today, staving off competition from the rest of the field to remain fastest rider of the weekend.
Camier had set a new lap record for Thruxton earlier in the day, but was unable to keep up the fast speeds during the Swan Combi 50 - Role For Pole. However his time of 1m 14.913s was fast enough to secure pole position, his third of the season.
Camier said: “We had the pace early on but to be honest I was disappointed with my lap time as it was slower than what we had been doing in practice and I expected more of an improvement in that last qualifying session. We just need to figure out why we lost some pace and see how we can change it from there. We are going to use a harder tyre in the race and it seems we have everything sorted from Donington Park so I am looking forward to another good race tomorrow.”
The full races are now set for tomorrow, where plenty of fans will enjoy the sunny weekend away from their office desks and track side at Thruxton.

Leon Camier Fastest In Free Practice

Airwaves Yamaha rider Leon Camier claimed the fastest time in the second free practice session of the weekend today, despite a late surge from James Ellison and Simon Andrews which shook up the standings before tomorrow’s qualifying session for the 4th round of the ViSK British Superbikes season.
In surprisingly summery weather for a British weekend which will surely see the fans out in droves with deckchairs, cold beers and even a garden gazebo or two, the action on the track did not let up as Camier took advantage of a fall by early pace setter Karl Harris to clock up the fastest time of the day.
Camier said: “Everything has been working well today and I am pleased with the times we have been doing. I need to work out where I can improve but other than that it is all working well and I am impressed with the top end speed of the Airwaves Yamaha so I feel confident ahead of tomorrow’s qualifying.”
Despite his crash Harris was soon back on his bike and was able to post the second fastest time of the day, ahead of Camier’s Airwaves Yamaha teammate James Ellison and MSS Colchester Kawasaki rider Simon Andrews.

Donington Park Round Of BSB Will Go Ahead

Event organisers at MSVR and Donington Park have today confirmed that the third round of the 2009 British Superbikes season will definitely be going ahead at the Donington Park circuit, despite fears that the event would be moved to Cadwell Park. [read more]
