Camier Wins First Race For Airwaves Yamaha
April 19, 2009
The second race of the 2009 British Superbikes season saw Leon Camier win a stunning victory to seal a great opening weekend for the new Airwaves Yamaha team. It is the team’s first victory in BSB, despite having no pre-season testing making this effectively their first outing on the bike.
Camier said:
“I can’t believe it. I just am amazed with how this weekend has gone for us. We had no testing on the Airwaves Yamaha but we stayed positive and we have been consistent this weekend which has really been the key. I just need to thank everyone at GSE Racing and all of our sponsors. After the first race I knew I had the pace to be on the podium, but to win is amazing. In the first race I made a few mistakes which really cost me but the performance of the YZF R1 was faultless. I’m looking forward to Oulton Park to get some more time on the bike and continue its development and I don’t see why we can’t be competitive there too.”
