Brand New Team For 2008 BSB

February 29, 2008

A new team will be joining the numerous teams ready to compete in this year’s British Superbikes Championship. TENA For Men Honda will compete in all 3 racing categories (Superbike Championship, Superbike Cup and Superstock), with former AMA and British Superbike Cup rider Tristan Palmer competing for the Superbike Championship.

Palmer, 25, has experience of the British circuits as he was drafted into the privateers cup early last season to replace the long-term injured Michael Howarth of Team Howarth Racing. Warwickshire-born Palmer ended up cruising to the privateer title, 53 points clear of his nearest rival.

The new team has actually formed from the foundations of Team Howarth, owner Michael Howarth happy to agree a deal to compete in the Superbike Championship with new sponsor TENA For Men - a newly-launched brand for the 3.5 million men in the UK with bladder weakness.

“We see our association with this sport as a key to raising awareness about male bladder weakness in the UK” says Nick Foulger, Marketing Manager, TENA For Men. “Be in no doubt - TENA For Men Honda will be a team with a significant profile both within and beyond the world of Superbikes in 2008.”

It’s good to see sport taking a some what embrassing subject and promoting it. I think programs like this help massively get the message over to men who by their very nature don’t visit doctors often enough.

I think sport has a huge part to play in getting the message for subjects like this to the massses after all no tobbaco sponsors are taboo maybe it’s a chance to put that TV time to better use than promoting cigarettes and booze.
