Bayliss Dominates In Brno

July 21, 2008

Australian Troy Bayliss looks set to win his third world title in his final year in World Superbikes after racking up to impressive wins on the Brno Circuit in the Czech Republic this weekend.

The rider’s championship leader took his seventh and eighth wins of the season in front of over 60,000 spectators to give himself a healthy 79 point lead over his rivals.

Bayliss started the first race on the front row, taking the lead on lap 12 and powering through to take home the win despite some pressure from Troy Corser. Third place was won by Michele Fabrizio after an intense battle on the final lap with fellow Italian Max Biaggi.

Race two followed a similar form as Bayliss took the lead roughly midway through and cruised home to earn maximum points. Second place was decided by a fierce final lap battle, again between Italians Fabrizio and Biaggi, and again won by Xerox team rider Fabrizio.

The next round of World Superbike racing is scheduled in two weeks time in the UK at Brands Hatch.
