Bayliss Claims 20th Career Superpole

April 26, 2008

Troy Bayliss was on top form in qualifying yet again today at Assen, notching up his second superpole of the year and 20th of his career. The Ducati Xerox rider set a winning time of 1′38.428, just a fraction slower than the lap record he himself had just set in free practice.

Second place went to Noriyuki Haga, the Yamaha rider posting a time just one tenth of a second off the pace of Bayliss. Third went to Spaniard Ruben Xaus - the Ducati rider had been poor in early qualifying sessions but made major progress in reach the front row for tomorrow’s racing.

Haga’s teammate Troy Corser rounds up the front row of the starting grid, the Australian coming good after a slow start to the weekend.
