2008 Superbike Testing In Valencia

Official superbike testing at Valencia ended today with some surprising results ahead of the third round of World Championship racing here on April 6th.
The first day of testing yesterday went very much by the form book, with Ruben Xaus recording the fastest time of the day on his home track. He did it in style too - the Spaniard recorded a time of 1′34.265, the fastest a superbike has ever gone round the Valencia circuit. Closest to Xaus was Max Neukirchner with a time of 1′35.313 continuing his recent good form on the Suzuki Alstare machine. The German was closely followed by Yukio Kagayama who has made a quick recovery from his broken collarbone suffered in Qatar last month to post a time of 1′35.368.
On the second day of testing it was Australian Karl Muggeridge who surprisingly took the top spot from Xaus with an astonishing 1′34.252 lap in the Spaniard’s absence (Ruben Xaus choosing not to take part in the second day of testing). Lorenzo Lanzi, who was quickest for most of the second day, finished with a fastest lap of 1′34.388 and he was closely followed by the two Honda’s of Carlos Checa and Ryuchi Kiyonari, both looking in good form for the HANNspree Ten Kate team.
There were a few notable absentees from the two-day testing session - Ducati Xerox’s Troy Bayliss and Michel Fabrizio, Yamaha Motor Italia riders Troy Corser and Noriyuki Haga, as well as Max Biaggi of Sterilgarda, recovering from a fractured wrist suffered in Phillip Island.
